It is time to take Jesus out of the creche, and to see/imagine the birth of Christ for what it really was.
Does the possible messyness of the birth of Jesus in any way diminish the tremendous value of that event in our lives? Does it, instead, make Christ more real? What do you think?

Imagine the birth of Christ

Woah, big word used by Eugene Peterson today, kerygmatic. It means:
the preaching of the gospel of Christ, esp. in the manner of the early church.
According to dictionary.com:

I personally find the incarnation one of the most mysterious things.
I just plain can't comprehend it - how Jesus can be fully God and fully human. Embarassingly, I tend to swing based on my own state. When I feel like I'm suffering it's all too easy to say "God doesn't really understand - he was still God and didn't have the same feelings"
But in my heart - a God who came through mess and pain and lived in it like we often do - is what I'm counting on! and to me, that makes the whole image of the birth of Christ more accessible and hopeful.
