Advent is also a season of Anticipation as we await the coming of the most important gift of all. Can you remember the last time you felt a sense of excitement as powerful as when you were a child at christmas? What significance does that memory have as you think of the anticipation of Advent?

The last time I remember waiting in excite was 4 years ago, as one of my daughters and I flew to Viet Nam - the place of her father's death. There was also some fear mixed in with the excitement. All of us aboard the plane was bursting with anticipation - almost in agony. When the pilot sighted the shore of Viet Nam, he alerted us and we all raced to the side of the plane from which we could see this land that held the promise of deeper healing of the wounds we had from the war in which our loved had died. Without exception we all had the same thought " This is where he came - this is what he saw before he set foot ont his soil." We connected with our loved one. This season of Advent provides the oppportunity to more deeply connect with our loved one - Jesus - who first loved us. It's an itchy type of waiting.
